Running is still going great! I have been running 3-4 times each week, as well as mixing in other workouts such as the elliptical and sculpting classes at the Y. I only did one session of weight training this week, which I blame on my ridiculous work schedule. The session I did do was awesome, though! They just got a whole new set of weight machines at the Y, and they are fabulous! I made Matt go through some of them with me to make sure I was doing them right, so now I feel comfortable doing circuits with them on my own. One of the machines is this amazing abdominal one…
I did go to a yoga class on Wednesday night because it just happened to be a convenient time and because stretching and relaxation sounded fabulous. I have been a tad sore since then, especially in my back, abs, and sides, which is great! I want to continue to do yoga at least once a week because it helps me to really stretch my muscles.
I have not been sticking to any particular running schedule or training plan so far. I have mostly been running intuitively, which for me means slowly building my endurance back up and incorporating walking breaks as needed. However, a phone call to wish my friend Rebekah a happy birthday today turned into talk of running (we used to run together during our nursing school days), which turned into talk of running together, which naturally turned into the two of us deciding to run the Gasparilla 5K together next month! Yay! I have a goal! I am pumped about the race and SO pumped about running it with Rebekah! (This is all assuming she is able to have off work that day- I am praying it works out and preparing as if it has. 🙂 )
I have 4 weeks to train, but I know I can do it. I am not trying for any certain time, I just want to have fun and do it! I am going to sit down with my work schedule this evening and work out a training plan. So excited!!
Happy Birthday, B!
